Emergency Brake

This picture is from my roadtrip to Austin, Texas last August.  I
stopped in Las Cruces, New Mexico, near the university and found this
brilliant bicycle setup.

I know my first instinct in an emergency is to take my hands off the
handlebars and reach between my legs.
