This is how all the piers around here used to be made. Huntington
Beach is now concrete because it occupies a special place where winter
storms out of Alaska can wrap around the Palos Verdes peninsula, focus
their energy and destroy wooden structures like these.

A funny thing happened.  I was watching the sun get lower while out on a bike ride.  I looked at the sun, the clouds and then my watch.  I was going to have to hurry.  I pedaled back to the house, changed quickly grabbed my camera and tripod and jumped in my car.

At the beach I paid for parking because I was short on time and rushed down to the sand setting up the tripod as I went.  I was in place and taking pictures when I noticed the -E- in the LCD screen on the camera letting me know the memory card was at home plugged into my computer.

I grabbed this shot with my phone proving that the best camera is the one you have with you (and working).
