After leaving Huntington Beach we spent one night in Bakersfield then four nights at Yosemite Lakes. While at Yosemite Lakes we visited Yosemite Valley. Our departure plan for Saturday was to take CA-120 through Tuolomne Meadows, over Tioga Pass and down to 395. On Friday we realized we would need a Yosemite National Park reservation to get through the gate on a weekend and there were no reservations available.
Plan B was to take the next pass to the north which was CA-108 over Sonora Pass. When we got to the summit we saw this sign and decided to turn back.
We drove back to Sonora and after reading some internet reviews decided on CA-88 over Carson Pass. This took us to Carson City, where we picked up US-395 and finally arrived at Topaz Lake.
