Rainforests and Gibbons

Gibbons disappeared from Phuket decades ago.  People would shoot female gibbons to get the babies so people would pay to have their pictures taken with them.  A law was passed making it illegal to keep gibbons and the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project was started.  Their goal is  to return gibbons to the wild.   Currently they have 4 families, about 20 animal that are living in the wild on the island.  They have many more in various stages of rehabilitation.  They all live in the Khao Phra Thaeo wildlife reserve in the northern part of the island.
